I stumbled across Thief : Deadly Shadows at Walmart this weekend, and trembled as I picked up the box to read through the story line and functionality. I drooled over the Thief series in a previous post stating that it has been the absolute best FPS Ive ever played...but dissapointment quickly set in when I asked the clerk how they handled a software return if I wasnt satisfied with the game play. " You can return it for the same software title only" came her reply. DAMN YOU hackers for screwing it up for the rest of us retail buying zombies!
"There must be a playable demo" I said. Sure enough....there was.....450mb of a playable demo, but Ive got broadband...so whats the problem?
Hardware is the problem...apparantly my 1 year old HP Bruiser system with 2.6g of processing speed, 512 meg of ram, and 128 meg of video ram doesnt have the right video card to support pixle shader 1.0.
This will be the most expensive video game Ive ever played!!!!
Anyway....noone talks about any multiplayer aspects, so youll just have to wait for UPS to deliver my FX 5700 for a better report on gameplay.
Re:New Thief Release : Deadly Shadows
HOLY CRAP!!
Well, I got the Vid Card installed ( I can play NOLF2 with like a 1200x800 resolution with 32 bit color now ) and it looks like the Thief series is back in full force. A few pluses and minuses ( as with every sequel, especialy when released by a different publishing house ) but the demo shows the game to be every bit as immersive as the original 2 games.
If your video card supports Pixel Shader 1.1, I would HIGHLY recommend you downloading the playable demo ( 450meg ) and taking it for a spin. it is by far..the most immersive stealth FPS Ive ever played. Goose bumps are standard equipment.
The only downside Ive seen so far are actually the hardware reqs. My PC came juiced with a 128meg Geforce MX440 as well as millions of other PC's and that card does not support Pixel Shader. looks like the wave of the future though because I also read that Deus Ex the Invisible wars has the same hardware reqs.
Oh...almost forgot....
I guess you can classify this as a downside because it prevents you from sharing the gaming experience with other Voodoo peeps...but....No Multiplayer anything
Ill post a few screenies later this weekend.

Gorf,
I'm having alot of fun with that demo!!! Its really challenging!
Its too bad there isn't a Multiplayer version called THIEVES
Got Thief: Deadly Shadows
OK. Got Thief: Deadly Shadows the first of the month as a present, and most of you are aware of my concept of stealth (for those that don’t: stealth (DEF) slipping past dead bodies). Yes, I did ghost most of the levels on the way in, but on the way out, let’s just say the trail was clearly marked.
In my opinion it is a great game since you can choose to ghost, kill, or blackjack your way through the levels.
I am a hardened sci-fi horror fan, but the Asylum (Stoneridge Cradle (SP?)) level jump started my heart a couple of times. For best results I suggest that you play it late at night with the lights off. Damn good music and environmental effects. If you don’t get a couple good scares out of it, someone told you too much about it!
As far as I could see there is no multi-player. Shame, it had so many good possibilities.

you dropped something...
Oh well
Never was great at advertising grammar or English for that matter. So pick from the list below and move on:
1) “It’s what’s for dinner”
2) “It’s what is for dinner”
3) “It is what’s for dinner”
4) “It is what is for dinner”
