As a FPS I liked the game. It has good detail and a paper thin plot (what else can you expect). Usually I have very little use for Death Match, but, for me anyway, I like the CTF for several reasons (on the trial version you only have 1 map, Blood Gulch, and can play either CTF or Slayer).
Unlike most DM’s you simply run around and kill everything in sight (Slayer) or on the other team. The twist here is that you have Warthogs which can carry the driver, a gunner (who can use either a chain gun or rocket launcher depending on the vehicle) and a passenger that can also shoot to provide cover. The driver drives.
Then there are the Banshees for air cover and dog-fights. If one team gets both Banshees they can pretty much OWN you. The Banshees, like the warthogs, are indestructible and it is the driver that takes damage. When you die the vehicle remains at that point, but will respawn at the start point if unused for about a minute. Letting a Banshee fall into enemy hands is not a good idea! Charging a chain-gun mounted on a Warthog is very bad for your health! Believe me I’ve been on both ends, and should the enemy have the Banshees your chances of getting to one are slim at best.
While the game play doesn’t demand co-op (loose cannons abound) a team with even a loose plan can make life (and death) a living Hell for you. With 3-4 players a good sniper can “cap them from the rocks” leaving you with little hope unless you can return the favor. At 6+ players the game is much more interesting, and with decent players (ones that don’t turn on their own out of frustration) the worm can turn.
One word of caution: when I joined a few games using Deadmeat I found I was being killed by my so-called teammates in ways that left little doubt they were aiming. After changing my name my betrayed death rate and circumstances were better. Maybe an old unsavory friend or maybe just some immature sicko I beat to the diver’s seat. Not sure.

HEY!!! Where the Hell is everybody!! Crying or Very sad !! Not on NOLF2! Maybe AvP2, FarCry, etc.. Guess the search for a GOOD co-op game has taken us all far afield. Shame!
