FWIW, another review. Gives it excellent marks for gameplay, the AI's are supposedly kick ass. Bad marks for cheesy voice acting ("I'll turn you into Chutney!") and Medium marks for predictable story line. Also, mentions that the save feature is "save point" and poorly placed. Multiplayer is DM only.

f00, your post inspired me to download the demo.
After sampling the demo, thats a pretty spot on review. And boy the game is TOUGH!! I barely made it to two savepoints but I finally gave up.
The AI are tough and you do have to use stealth to kill ALOT of them.
From what I read, those who play Deathmatch, usually play in teams because the levels are HUGE to play alone.
This one level demo is 419 megs!
Here are some screenshots. I estimate that I have only seen 20% of the level, so if and when I get further, I will post some more. I need a break right now.
The game settings are on at medium, because even for my new system, its a VERY taxing game.
Be sure to maximize the pic to see how much detail there is.

Ugh.....that ruins it for me! Why on earth would a software company spend 1000's of hours developing a awesome game to give it what is in my opinion the absolute biggest detriment to gaming.....
The Save Point!
Maybe Im in the minority, but if there is one thing that burns my ass, its playing the same game sequence...ove..and over...an over...and over until you can reach the save point. Its so....Playstation!

After reading all the hype and hoopla over Far Cry, I finally downloaded the demo...all 400MB worth. Now I'm left wondering what all the fuss is about? I must be in the minority here, but I don't like this game at all. There's just nothing about it that appeals to me. Am I missing something?
Still waiting for Half-Life 2.
Finished Far Cry - Barf.
Just finished Far Cry a few days ago, and believe me Foo Fighter, you missed nothing!
Great graphics even at 800x600. Tried 1024x768 but my system started to jump a lot.
Story-line: lame and predictable. Let’s see: evil scientist(s) creating genetically engineered monsters (super soldiers?) on a remote island, hero/heroine discovers truth and must kill them, and so on. You get the idea. Not very original. How many game titles can you list???
The save-points really suck! They save their best shooting, or hidden, AI for the last guy, or five with rockets, just before the save-point, and all you have is a sling-shot and no stones! Solution: hacking a little code did wonders for me!
The deathmatch levels are BIG! With two or three people you spent most of your time trying to find someone to shoot at. About the only redeeming value is Team DM with about 6 or more people. Considering you have large maps, lethal land and water vehicles, it can have some very interesting kills, chases and deaths.
DM
