Re:playing NOLF2 sp campaign coop on lan
Best way to do it is to get your buds to register at Voodoo so you can use "our" server to run the game. That way your buds dont need to crash YOUR house and eat YOUR food....they can play the game from the comfort of their very own own homes. However...lets just say that you want to be crammed into a small room with your multiplayer buds. Ill cover most of the basics since you dont say how IT proficient you are.
Im assuming you allready have a DSL or BroadBand connection to the internet. If you dont allready have one - go out and purchase a router. You should do this whether you are gonna do the lan party or not because its the best way to keep people you dont want in your computer out. The standard router comes with 4 ports ( you and 3 of your buds ) and costs about $60 ( try this link - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=38024&sku=D700-2006 )
If you have more friends - you need more ports...and oh yea...more money
Oh yea...Im also assuming each computer has a 100Mbps NIC. No?....mo money you should be able to pick one up for about $10...or if you see a cable company Van....flag down the driver....hell prolly give you one.
After that..its real simple. Each computer talks to its own port on the router...and the router talks to the modem.....and the modem talks to the internet and the internet talks to Voodoo. ( Why do I feel like singing the Headbone Song? )
Having said all that - Getting the router to talk to the modem is easy...most of it is plug and play. Getting each computer to talk to the router gets alittle bit more involved...MAC addresses and stuff. But that is the subject of another post
Hope to see you and your buds in Voodoo...
PS
BTW - If you decide to do this, make sure all your buds behave. If One of them gets banned for attitude not becoming of a Unity agent, YOUR IP address will get banned which will bring your lan party to a screaching halt...as well as play time for you after they leave.
Re:playing NOLF2 sp campaign coop on lan
thans gorf, sorry for not being specific about my network here at home. i got about 6 decent pc's all hooked up on my network through routers. each computer runs NOLF2 fine and my friends and i have beaten the 5 missions that are standard default maps for COOP multiplay in NOLF2.
but my main question remains unanswered
im trying to play the actuall NOLF2 singleplayer game, all 15 missions, with my friends here on my network. I have noticed on the VooDoo server that you are able to do this, cuz i was playn with Nova(my <3) and smoke(dnt even mess) on your server earlier today and that was all going well but boss man in wheelchair flew off the map.
anywyas id really love to be able to get the singleplayer missions playable here on my network. anyhelp would be great
(THAT MEANS YOU, Mr. Host Sir)
Re:playing NOLF2 sp campaign coop on lan
O....I....C
Well....for that information , Im going to have to defer to our resident Geniuses....er...Geniusees...uh...Geniusii.....oh screw it...smart doods!Cainan and f00. They are the primary reason we are gathered together at all.
I will tell you many have asked to to take the shortcut to get the SP missions without doing the work and none of those people were "given" the ability to just run them. Check out www.thegluefactory.com for NUMEROUS threads on building your own multiplayer SP missions. There is much info on how to do it, but ya gotta actually lift some weight to look like Arnold...know what I mean?
Good Luck!
Re:playing NOLF2 sp campaign coop on lan
no i dont kno what you mean
so this f00 and cainan smart dudes made the SP missions work COOP is that what your saying?
cuz i thought maybe there was a MOD you could just install and voila, or maybe some other shit
im no genious, guniess, gunii....smart guy but get f00 or canain to tell me whats up because gorf your just confusing me
Re:playing NOLF2 sp campaign coop on lan
Well...I honestly apologize for confusing you!
Let me simplify the answer(s)......
No - There is no "mod" which will allow you to run the SP missions in Coop
Yes - You basically have to hack the server code. Instructions on how to do this exist in complete detail on www.thegluefactory.com
No - Neither Cainan nor f00 will give you the hacked server code
Re:playing NOLF2 sp campaign coop on lan
ok i found help at teh gluefactory tnks gorf
looks like its going to be completely impossible for me to do this
being that i couldnt code a... see i cant even come up with a decent coding joke thats how bad i am at it
also, what goies on in that test server? thers always a bunch of ppl in ther and no one in the regular server and i wanna plaaaaaaay with soem people D: u shuld give it the password to me and will not disrupt your voodoo testing just watch k? no? didnt think so
\ please reconsider
Re:playing NOLF2 sp campaign coop on lan
The Test Server is for the regulars only. Srry
It is where we test skins and improvement that go into the regular server. The reason you see more people on it than on the other one is that the regulars like to test things so that you can have a better gaming experiance on the regular server.
Not to be overly mean, but I would say the chances of you (or anyone else for that matter who doesn't alright have it) is like a that of winning the Loto in 4 or more states at one time. It could happen, but the probablity is EXTREMELY low.
Re:playing NOLF2 sp campaign coop on lan
Heya.
Somewhere here in the voodoo forums I may have posted this but I *know* I made a post on thegluefactory.com forums called "how to do your own voodoo" and that is the post you want. I'd give a link to it but I'm way too busy right now to be here and am just about to log out...
coding isn't really what i would call this, you just have to edit a few configs but you do so at your own risk... if you screw it up, sometimes the easiest way to recover is to reinstall the game.
