I saw this game being played at a local Mall Internet store called Web Warriors where you "rent" a hi end dekstop for $5 and hour to play the MP game du jour. Im not sure how they got it since the release date is the end of March according to the link...BUT...what they are calling coop mode is actually Team Deathmatch from what I saw. Unfortunately I was " interviewing a friggin 10 year old kid who parents thought this place was a great babysitter so it was hard to get any sensible information.
Im a bachelor this week
...so I might just spring for the full hour and see what this bad boy is all about b4 I actually go and drop $50 on the licensed copy. Ill give you all my detailed report after the paypal arrangements have been satisfied

Actually...yes...but its news in that I dont know any more about whether CZ has coop play or not. This may sound surprising...but the 10 year old I was talking to was confused. He was NOT playing CZ.....just Counter Strike. I talked to the owner of the Mall Store and he claims that he was originally promised a March 25th release date.....which has now slipped into April.

That's freaky. I don't have time to be sure right now, but I think the CZ website said "shipping since 23 march" not "will ship on 25 march" which was originally the case.

Ok... I have *seen* the box, the game is out. Fry's in Austin has it for $27.99. Only thing is, I left it on the shelf because I haven't seen anything about the COOP modes. I just happened to find some info (finally) here that leads me to believe the boxed version isn't fully cooked.

There are also complaints that it is essentially a map pack for the existing game, plus an offline (i.e. SP) mode... that doesn't work, and bundled (i.e. official, not add-on mod) bot support.
I'm getting the impression that Counter Strike has always been "COOP" i.e. multiplayer squad play. That may be wrong. Unfortunately Fry's sale ends today at which point it goes back up to $49.99. Ah well. I'm going to have to wait until I find out more.

Bomb / Defuse, where terrorists must plant a bomb in a critical area and counter-terrorists must defuse the bomb.

The MOD is team-based featuring one team playing the role of the terrorist and the other team playing the role of the counter-terrorist. yes. and condition zero appears to add hostage rescue scenarios to that impressive array of mission types.
however... the cooperative play that it shipped with is apparently just like counter-strike, it is essentially doomsday, but with one team trying to "do the deed" and the other team trying to prevent it. sometimes the objective is to bomb something, sometimes its to rescue prisoners, etc... i can definitely see why people like counterstrike---it's the same reason i like doomsday.
there is a single-player campaign that provides for the use of bots but i haven't figured out how to get the bots and humans together in the same game other than single-player, without modding. the internet play modes dont seem to have any options for adding bots. i know it can be done, because it was done before with counterstrike but the docs for czero don't say how and you can't go "read the forums" because each bot is a bit different to install and CS bot is all new, all the time.
there is a guy on the steam forums who has been modding the crap out of it and is making some progress towards coop play, but this isn't what i saw touted on the retail box, so buyer beware.
i'll probably keep plugging away at this but i'm rather disappointed... some parts of this game are really neat but it feels unfinished and i feel like the marketroids really went out of their way to mislead me.
so promising and yet... so craptastic.
