Hi Nova! Very Happy

Guild Wars is a mmorpg that has no monthly fee. Except for the initial cost of the game, there is no monthly fee to play.

Its an online game that has cooperative quests and there is no team killing.

There are 6 main professions you can chose for your character. Ranger, Monk, Warrior, Mesmer, Neckromancer, and Elementalist.

You also a chose a secondary profession. In the screenies you see, I am a Ranger as my primary but my secondary is a monk so I can heal my team.

Its just a really fun game and its designed differently from traditional mmorpgs. Theres no emphasis on skill grinding, and its a game that you put away and come back to when you feel like it.

Its so much to explore, theres going to be over 60 areas to explore.
Shocked

Thats great Smoke. You'll be able to play in the final event weekend next week.
It has a pretty easy learning curve too.

Gah!!!! Twin Polygon-Pliables reaching critical proportions! Brain melting into raging mass of testosterone! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

*Ahem* Uh, nice screenies, Mel. You're making think it's time for another Voodoo beach volleyball tourney. The eye candy is nice. I'll have to go looking for this and see if I can't make time to join you.

Thanks for the screenies. I have to go uh ... sleep now. Yea, that's it.

Into Charr Territory

Dead Of Arrival & Intergra Darkhorse infiltrate into Charr territory only to find the Charr playing what looks like “Football” (maybe Soccer?) and a big cooking bowl. Is this the Charr version of tailgating? There is a short Quest for the North gate that requires two people, basically get in, kill a few Char and leave or be killed. Beyond getting the guy to leave for the Quest the Charr get real nasty and their sole purpose appears to be keeping you from going further. But, as you will notice, there are two people who didn’t get the hint, just getting this far took several lives, each.

In Part I the number of members is limited to 2 players in a Party no matter what your level, but Part II can have 4 and I believe up to 8, or maybe more.

DM

Sorry for the large screen shots, but getting any closer meant death.

Good game-I like it.

The game has an interesting set up for the game, basically you play through their server and not from the game loaded on your hard drive. The game server holds all your character(s) data (attributes and saves). To spread the load they break it up into Districts that vary in number (I’ve seen up to District 191), but you can add Friends to your list and know when they are online no matter where they are. Your game view is 3rd person but you can zoom in to make it look like 1st person, but it also limits your view which can be very bad at times.

The first part of the game is mainly for building up your character prior to joining Sir Tydus and going on the main mission(s). You pick a profession and a second one if you want to build up your character. It is pretty much you shot they shoot, cast spells and hope you win. All Quests can be done alone or with party members (I think 4-8 is the limit, not sure about that), but it requires coop to complete them because different Professions have varying Quests. Basically the 1ST part is training, and I do suggest you use it to build up your character because once you join Sir Tydus they do come after you! Your training is over!

Once into the main part of the game you can go it alone, or you can take on up to 3 henchmen (no charge for their services) which I advise you doing unless you are just looking for kills to get points or weapons (if nothing else take a warrior to act as an additional target). You get the most points/items when you are alone, but have a better chance of survival in a party.

For those that like Deathmatch they have match challenges where you fight random players. Last one standing wins I guess, but haven’t played it so I can’t say for sure.

FYI: I have 2 characters one in training (Dead Of Arrival- lvl 4?) and one in part 2 (Lotus Flower-lvl 9). If you put a name into your Friends then it is possible to hook up and go on Quests. It is best to add a name(s) to your list because as a rule there is so much chatter a message is very easy to overlook unless you filter some of it out. The Fiends list will tell you the status of anyone on the list, and can send private messages to them.

All said and done, hope to see you there sooner or later.

Hey Dead!! Very Happy

My main character is a Ranger/Monk and I'm about Level 8.5. I'm getting over a bad case of bronchitis, but when I'm up to playing again, we can make arrangements to play.

Smile

Theres one area of the game where you can quest with up to 6 players. It would be so fun if we could all quest together. Wink

yeah

I havent even open my copy of it yet but it would be cool to kill some things with you 2.

well peace!

Sounds good.

In order to play together we also need to be in the same part of the game. Joining Sir Tydus is the break point where you are either “In Training” or in the main part of the game (after Ascalon is destroyed). To the best of my knowledge, once you are in the main game there is no way to go back to the first part, but if you are in the Friends list you can be anywhere and send/receive messages.

My son said he will join us if we can get something setup. That would make 4 which is what at least one Quest suggests you have in your party (he did it alone and paid dearly for it).

Would like suggestions on how to set this up.

1) Set up a Guild??
2) If a Guild, I would like suggestions on a NAME and SYMBOL.
3) A Guild can buy a meeting place. I’ll buy from my last Unity Paycheck.

I would be willing to create an e-mail account (like: ) if you think that would help.

MY Characters:
Part I: Dead Of Arrival E/Mo 8
Part II: Lotus Flower R/E 9 (she has a cuter back view than Dead).

The scenery alone will tell you whether you are in Part I or II, see screen shot.

Let me know and I’ll get it set up.

Nice shots, DM. The more I see of this game the more I want to find $50 to buy it.

postpone

Im gonna have to postpone my time playing it my allergy's are acting up in a wicked way( sneezeing out blood, constant tearing, seeing things, double vision, major head ache) So looks like I might get off to a late strat on my char.

Peace

okay

okay i got started on my character(Smoke Elric) and as of right now he is a level 5 Elementist/Warrior. Speaking of characters whats your chars. name mel?

Later.

Feeling Better

Smoke;
Glad to know you are feeling better.
Just wanted to apologize for what may have looked like we stole your Quest Item last night for the Census. When I opened the box the book was reserved for Intrega and neither of us could have picked it up. What really sucks about that is that means if you do that Quest with more that one person you apparently need to do the Quest for each person in the party. I’m guessing the box can only spawn 1 book and assigns it to a random player whether they have the Quest in their Log or not.
Interga and I are going to check this and one, or both of us will have the Census Book for you if you play later today.
By the way, I did that Quest with another Char using Henchmen and the monsters wiped me out the first time. Bots are not a substitute for real players because that Quest was a piece of cake.

DM

last night

actuly amazingly enough i did that quest and some others on my own last night without dying.

where are you hiding mel

Hey mel where are you hiding? Havent seen you on guildwars, nolf2, or any other games for that matter. Me and Dead have been wondering where you have been.

lol. she's probably gardening. or plotting to take over the world, one game at a time Smile

speaking of where people have been, i have heard a few people here at voodoohq say they are picking up joint ops and the only one i've been able to confirm is actually playing is our very own Gorf.

what servers do you people play and when?

and has guild wars come down any in price? i'll probably pick up HL and load up Sven COOP first just due to the finances.

price

sadly the price hasnt come down it's still pinned up at $50.00, but it is an extremely well spent 50 dollars. If you are going to get it i suggest

it sure looks like a blast. i did, as predicted, chicken out on guild wars, mostly because fry's wasn't stocking anything but the $79.99 mega-collector-edition. instead i picked up half life, but maybe after father's day i can afford guild wars.

wow

uhhhhh JESUS $80?!?! Man, no offense but fry's is rippin you off. It's only $50 every where else. Seriously check out best buy.com

lol, is that the mega-super-duper-collector edition that who knows or cares what's in it but doesn't look like the normal retail box?

i agree, without having read the box to see what the "collector edition'" contains, its probably a rip off. i'll be checking best buy.com like you suggest.

moo!
