Passive aggressive Day

I have an idea (stemming form a comment by f00 I think) that we should have a completely Nonlethally session/day. That would entail only bananas, bear traps, glue, tranqs, trackers, sleeping, laughing and stun grenades. Oh, almost forgot the TAZER!!!!!!! Twisted Evil

Anyways what do people think. Could be really fun (as in hard) and funny. Razz

PMS ahh, PPS: I really like electic darts so those might be included to, if used not leathly (one shot stuns, two or three kills) Wink

ja, that would have been me... i have concerns that some levels might not be possible without deadly force:


    - khios (no ammo, too many enemies)
    - ss india (no ammo)
    - ohio (no ammo, must kill N ninjas before Isako appears)
    - manhandler (no ammo, must kill volkov and isako)
    - underwater base (respawn is a PITA, must kill mime king)

I'm sure there are others but Siberia and Japan ought to be doable, probably most of India and much of any level, really. At some point you will run out of ammo and if there isn't any on the level then I suppose... use the stealthiest ammo you have. Might be a good compromise.

Isn't it possible to redo the AI to make it unharmable by non-tagging weapons? I'm looking into it but I can't seem to get butes to work properly Sad

I think if you equip everyone with a tazer as a starting weapon then most missions are bearable.

Well Then. I think thats fabulous idea there.

Hmm tazer. What about them Electric Darts? Those can kill too. I reckon the AIs would die by the Electric Darts. Or,...that was my imagination.

Right after Flora posted this thread, I did a little research into the nuances of non lethal game play...just by simply playing the standard voodoo server and only selecting non lethal weapons.
For example....any ninja chick level.

The tweaked physics we are running ( fast run and hi jump ) allow you the advantage of better mobility than the AI and if you are going to zap and run to finish a level...its all good.

Some problems that I ran into when I did this back in Feb/March.
1) Some levels key exit points based on the expiration of a certain number of AI. No deaths = No Exits. Take the mime levels for example.

2) You can zap a ninja and take her Katana while she is sleeping. When she wakes up, she does the "What Happened" thing and runs around looking for her makeup kit...then she hyperspaces out. When she warps back in....she has the Katana back as well as some friends and they are PISSED OFF. Before long you end up with Multiplicity that would make Agent Smith jealous...now to be perfectly honest....if I wanted to be around that many hyperactive women...id go to a shoe store ( oh man am I gonna pay for that!! )

Having said that....once summer has released its hold on my life, I will do what I said I would do...which is to set up a non lethal server. For now...feel free to try out any non lethal means on the standard Voodoo maps and make notes where it works...and where it doesnt. For those that help me out on this project, I will gladly send a check for 85% of what I get paid for my post at VoodooHQ.

I hate to me a spoil sport, but what about the matter of lag?
If every AI in the level is asleep, the lag is going to be a problem, and not really make the game playable.

how about equipping with crossbow and silenced handgun for the levels that key on dead ai's. volkov is easily solved if we don't restrict the smg, but don't equip peeps by default. obviously, ohio is just non-stealth and could be skipped entirely.
